This
was my FIRST attempt at converting camcorder videos to digital
WindowsMediaPlayer (.wmv) or
RealPlayer (.rm) files . (If you
don't have WMP, <click> here to download
. If you want RealPlayer, <click> here to download
. If you want RealPlayer,
<click>
here to go to their site and choose the
*FREE* version. These files are
called
"streaming" because -- like Internet radio stations -- you do not
have to download huge .wav and
.mpg files.
You can view / listen to them right at their
source. There is a price to be paid, however. Each of
these players have their own software for conpressing a file. The
"free" versions (which I've used)
produce an inferior product. Unlike the original files which view
fine in either WMP or RP, the
these compressed videos will
appear "blurry". (If my funds weren't budgetted for
other things, I'd
purchase the "PRO" conversion software and then you wouldn't
see any difference!)
Both
players have options (usually under the "View" drop-down) that let you
double the viewing screen
size. Then wait for it to complete its preliminary
buffering. There is also AUDIO ; so if you have
a soundcard, turn up your speaker volume. (There are also "sliders" for volume control too.
If they are all the way down, you'll have to move them up for your speakers to have a
chance.)
